Graduates Welfare Association Fazilka (GWAF) is a “non-profit” organisation established in year 2005 as an initiative by Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Counselor & Consulting Engineer Former Professor, Indian institute of Technology, Roorkee. He established this association by involving people from various walks of life, those who are directly or indirectly related to city beautiful Fazilka.
GWAF is a team consisting of professionals (lawyers, engineers, doctors, business men) and all those who have achieved success because of the special personality traits inherent to the sons and daughters of Fazilka region who support GWAF activities
The main endeavour of this association to unite the youth of city under one roof for the progressive development of the city, maintaining the culture and heritage of the city, to generate the various job opportunities for the unemployed youth of this area mainly by improving tourist potential of the city, providing platform to apply for various higher studies and job options in India as well as abroad and their career and personality development through different mechanism like organizing various workshops, lecture series and career development counseling cells.
For the cause of education, employment and ecology, (3Es).The association GWAF is a non profit organisation dedicated to guiding and counseling the fresh graduates to acquire appropriate placement and employment as per their competence. Also to expose the opportunities for higher education available at the institutes all over the world in the new fields like Information technology- IT and Bio- Technology-BT and Nano-Technology-NT and environment maladies like Global Warming by collecting from various sources dispensing to graduates for career enhancement This association is not only focusing on the youth of the city, it is also focusing and concerned to maintain the ecology and environment of the city and how this can be improved with community participation
Association Objectives
(a) To provide information on interface technologies to graduates of the region
(b) To provide interface between political and bureaucratic circle for the promotion of Fazilka region through research studies and reports
(c) Promote Fazilka as tourist destination
(d) Promote Rich Heritage and Culture of Fazilka, and establish Fazilka as a Brand City
(e) To hold professional seminars, symposia, conferences and refresher courses cum continuing education
(f) To publish booklets for opportunities for higher education and professional counseling
(g) To provide profiles to citizens for better quality of life
(h) To inter link the fresh and older graduates by providing address almanac
(i) Counseling for improvement in improving qualifications through open universities
(j) To make arrangements for improvement in quality of education in local schools and colleges
(k) To invite achievers to talk to fresh graduates under the auspices of GWAF
Membership of the GWAF
Three categories of memberships are available to graduates of all the subjects like Sciences, Technologies, Engineering, Medicine, Law and Arts. These are
