2013 तक दुनियाभर में 25,000 नौकरियों में कटौती

लंदन[ एजेंसी ] एचएसबीसी बैंक साल 2013 तक दुनियाभर में 25,000 नौकरियों में कटौती करेगा। इस साल के शुरुआती छह महीनों में इस बैंक का प्रदर्शन अच्छा रहने के बावजूद यह निर्णय लिया गया है।

साल 2011 के पहले छह महीनों में बैंक को 11.5 अरब डॉलर का पूर्व-कर लाभ हुआ है। इसमें साल दर साल तीन प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हो रही है। इसमें साल 2010 के आखिर के छह महीनों की तुलना में 45 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि हुई है। एचएसबीसी ने इस साल की शुरुआत में कहा था कि वह लातिन अमेरिका, अमेरिका, ब्रिटेन, फ्रांस और मध्य पूर्व में 5,000 नौकरियों में कटौती करेगा।

एचएसबीसी के सीईओ स्टूअर्ट गुलिवर का कहना है, "नौकरियों में और भी कटौती होगी।" उनके अनुमान के मुताबिक साल 2013 के अंत तक 25,000 नौकरियों में कटौती होगी। दुनियाभर से एचएसबीसी की नौकरियों में कुल 10 प्रतिशत तक की कटौती होगी। बैंक ने रविवार को कहा था कि वह अपनी अमेरिका की 19.5 करोड़ डॉलर की शाखाओं को फर्स्ट नियाग्रा फाइनेन्शियल को एक अरब डॉलर में बेच देगा और 13 अन्य शाखाओं को बंद कर देगा। लंदन शेयर बाजार में सोमवार दोपहर तक एचएसबीसी के शेयरों का मूल्य चार प्रतिशत तक बढ़ गया था।

Fazilka Eco cab rickshaws

Fazilka has become the first town in the world which can boast of having a dial-a-rickshaw facility. Just like taxies in any metros, now any one in Fazilka can call a rickshaw by dialing a number. Named as ‘Eco-Cabs’, use of these rickshaws for short distances would help in reducing the pollution in the town. This facility has been launched in the town on 20th June 2008.

The aim of the project ‘Eco-Cabs’ is to promote eco friendly, short distance mode of transport besides offering a sustainable livelihood to rickshaw-pullers also. More than 400 rickshaw-pullers are part of this project.

Initiated by the Graduates’ Welfare Association of Fazilka in collaboration with the Czech Republic-based World Car Free Network - a Czech Republic based NGO promoting non-motorised transport across 100 countries , the Ecocab programme has been launched with the grand objective of saving 328,500 litres of diesel and petrol annually and 14,000 Kg of fresh air daily simply by organizing the town’s neighborhood rickshaw-pullers into an efficient and most convenient service linked through the already-in-place mobile telephone network.

The project has been conceptualized by a retired Prof. Dr. Bhupinder Singh of IIT, Roorkee and Scientist of IIT, New Delhi, Mr. Navdeep Asija. It has been promoted by NGO Graduates Welfare Association of Fazilka, and is also a part of World Car Free Network - a Czech Republic based NGO promoting non-motorised transport across 100 countries.

With this eco-friendly initiative, Fazilka, which has already earned a name by contributing in the field of reducing global warming, has added another feather in its cap.

For having this facility at a call on one’s doorstep, Fazilka has been divided into five zones. Each zone has a separate centre which would cater to the transportation needs of the public. The telephone numbers are:
